Container & Pallet Capacity Planning

Before you can plan freight cost or landed price per unit, you need a realistic estimate of how many rolls fit per pallet and per container. This depends on more variables than it first appears — here’s what actually determines capacity.

What determines how many rolls fit

1. Roll outer diameter — a longer-length roll has a larger diameter and takes up proportionally more space than a short trial-size roll.
2. Packaging format — bulk-packed (loose in cartons) vs. individually shrink-wrapped changes density significantly.
3. Pallet standard — EUR-pallet vs. standard pallet dimensions affect how many units stack per layer.
4. Container type — 20ft vs. 40ft (and standard vs. high-cube) changes total usable volume.

Why we don’t publish a generic “units per container” number

A number that ignores your specific size and packaging choice is more likely to mislead than help — it would need to be recalculated for your order anyway. Instead, when you request a quote with your product, size and target volume, we calculate the actual pallet and container fit for that specific configuration, so the freight cost estimate you get is based on real numbers, not a generic placeholder.

FAQ

How many rolls fit in a 20ft container?
This depends on roll size and packaging format. Share your specification and target volume, and we’ll calculate the actual fit for your order.
Can you optimize packaging to maximize container fill?
Yes, packaging format can often be adjusted (bulk vs. shrink-wrapped, carton size) to improve density if minimizing freight cost per unit is a priority.
Do you work with EUR-pallets or standard pallets?
Both are available — mention your preference or your destination market’s standard when requesting a quote.
Should I choose a 20ft or 40ft container?
This depends on your order volume relative to available capacity per container. We’ll recommend the more cost-efficient option once we know your target quantity.
Need an exact capacity calculation?
Send your product, size and target volume.
