Thermal Paper Size Conversion — mm to Inches
Most of the world specifies thermal roll width in millimeters. North American buyers typically search and order in inches — “2 1/4 inch” or “3 1/8 inch” thermal paper. This chart bridges the two so you can match a Kasetsan mm size to the inch spec your printer requires, or vice versa.
Why this matters
A “56mm” roll and a “2 1/4 inch” roll are not always exactly the same width (56mm = 2.20″, while the US trade standard “2 1/4 inch” is 57.15mm) — but printers are built with enough tolerance that the nearest standard size is normally the correct match. If your printer manual specifies an inch size, use the table below to find the closest millimeter equivalent in our product range, or contact us with your printer model and we’ll confirm directly.
Width conversion
“Nearest trade size” reflects the closest commonly-used North American inch designation — not always a mathematically exact conversion. Always confirm against your printer’s manual for critical fit.
Length conversion (roll length)
Most common US/Canada trade sizes
✓ 2 1/4″ x 50′ (57.15mm x ~15m) — countertop terminals (Clover, Square, Verifone)
✓ 3 1/8″ x 230′ (79.4mm x ~70m) — most common POS receipt printer size in North America
✓ GSM (grams per square meter) is the standard weight reference used in US/Canada specs — ask us for the GSM of any Kasetsan product if your spec sheet requires it.
